Electricity Authority to restore forest area in Phetchaburi

PHETCHABURI, 25 December 2015 – The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has signed an agreement with the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park (SIEP) Foundation to restore 33 rai of forest. 

According to EGAT Governor Soonchai Kumnoonsate, the forest restoration is dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Meanwhile, an EGAT subsidiary, Electricity Generating PCL, and Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding PCL will join hands under the agreement to renovate an energy learning center located inside the SIEP in Phetchaburi.

At the learning center, the public will be able to share their thoughts and provide suggestions as to how the park should be improved for educational purposes.

Mr. Soonchai added that the EGAT will convene a meeting next year to discuss its plan to host an academic seminar and an exhibition on the environment. The two events will have a budget of 20 million baht and are scheduled to take place before 2021.
