Immigration police during the holiday period launched a major crackdown on tourists overstaying their visas.
Immigration Division 3 commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Thamrong Sangwattanakul dispatched officers to fan out across the region to check hotels, guesthouses and businesses popular with foreigners to check passports and visas.
Division 3 covers Chonburi, Rayong, Chachoengsao, Chantaburi, Trat, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan, Prachin Buri, and Sing Buri.
The campaign is being carried out nationwide based on orders from the Prime Minister’s Office to redouble crime suppression efforts during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
