In the past six months, the Dining Out team has been to many restaurants and I have selected ones that we felt were good. We also split the restaurants into three categories – Budget, Middle and High.
First category we called Budget. Two contenders from the Dark side. First was Shenanigans by the Lake, and we enjoyed ourselves so much there, we went back on the Sunday for their roasts that run from 12 till 6 (B. 240-280 and children B. 150). A very welcome addition to the pub scene in Pattaya. Highly recommended.

The other Budget eatery was Kung and Pinky offering inexpensive well cooked food, with large portions in a very clean establishment. Directions – down Siam Country Club Road and about one km past the traffic lights, on the right is the Bali Resort and after that a sharp right turn next to Tui’s Place and follow the signs. You will return to this restaurant, guaranteed.

Pepper and Salt was in our “Middle” category. The menu covers different meats, poultry and seafood and with the additional Thai, Chinese and Indonesian items. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are large, making this restaurant very suitable for those on a budget. I do suggest you book, rather than be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Madame had the slow-simmered lamb shank with fried potatoes and was still raving about it in the car park!
Still ‘Middle’, Nong Bistro just gets better and better. Try Steak Nong Bistro which has 150 gm of thin beef fillets with whiskey and garlic sauce. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommended.

Now to the top level for stand-alone restaurants only. I do not include hotel restaurants, even though some are magnificent.
Casa Pascal. Casa Pascal has maintained the highest standards for the many years it has been delighting the diners in Pattaya. You can recommend Casa Pascal to anyone who appreciates the finer things in life. It is not often that you meet someone completely on top of their game. Highest recommendation possible.
