PSC Golf from the Phantom Golf Society
Monday, Dec. 28, Pleasant Valley – Stableford
Between Phantom Bar & Colin’s Golf Bar we had a healthy total of 6 groups and a later than normal tee time of 10.56am gave many of us the chance of a sleep in after the hectic Xmas period. We arrived at the course in plenty of time after a 40 minute drive and although it seemed quite busy our first group teed of the blue tees on the first 26 minutes early at 10.30am.
The fairways were somewhat wet so ‘mark, lift, clean & place’ was allowed but other than that the golf course was in quite good shape with the greens fairly well maintained. We had a few very slow groups in front of us so the going was virtually at a snail’s pace and after a first nine of two hours & fifteen minutes we were hopeful of things speeding up but alas that did not happen. It was hot and there was some breeze to cool us down a little but nonetheless it was an enjoyable round which was completed in the slow time of four hours & forty minutes.

We had 2 flights, A Flight for handicaps of 0 to 16 and B Flight for golfers with handicaps of 17 and over. We also had nearest the pins on 2 par threes and longest first putts on the ninth & eighteenth greens.
The A Flight was won by Narongsak “Dipty” Narula with a fine 38 points, closely followed by Dave Edwards on 37 points in second spot. With 2 golfers on 34 points a count back was required to determine third place and that went to Peter Wilson (17 point back nine) with Peter Hynard (16 point back nine) just missing out.
There was only one lady in the competition and Lorraine Percy showed all the B Flight men up by winning that flight with 33 points. On 31 points came Patrick Poussier in second place and Colin “Donkey” Davis captured third spot with his 30 points.

Note: The Phantom Golf Society welcomes golfers of any persuasion – low & high handicappers alike, female golfers and beginners. We generally play Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, meeting at The Phantom Bar in Soi Buakhow at 8.00 am with transport departing at 8.30 am.
