No one was seriously injured in a Monday afternoon fire at the Mooks Condominium in Central Pattaya, but the blaze caused 2 million baht in damages.
Seven firetrucks were dispatched to the scene midday Jan. 25, and managed to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
The condo building also houses a branch of Kasikorn Bank on the ground floor.
Miss Anisa Uanpumi, Kasikorn Bank manager, said that she was working on the ground floor before she heard people shouting ‘fire’. She said during evacuation of the office she could see thick smoke belching from a unit on the 4th floor.
7 condo rooms and a storage room belonging to the Kasikorn Bank were damaged.
Pattaya’s police chief, Pol. Col. Sukthat Pumpunmuang, stated that the cause of the fire was unknown, although initially it was suspected that a faulty air conditioning unit may have been to blame.
