Twenty-seven golfers assembled at Plutaluang Navy last week to play a round of golf in memory of their departed friend Dennys Kannar, a.k.a. ‘Tinny’.

This year the event was sponsored by his buddies Neil, Phil and Callum plus Dennys’ brother Ross.  The result was a can of ice cold Heineken for each participant at the first tee and a splendid prize table.

Paul Bartlett led the day, coming in three points clear of the field with 36 stableford points and lifting the memorial plaque, a slab of Heineken and a shirt for his efforts.  He was followed by Bill Peach and Tom Larsen in second and third.

Some new near-pin/long-putt markers appeared and considering that the event is held just once a year it was surprising that the markers were seemingly constructed to withstand a nuclear blast, whereas other groups who play weekly have markers made from a kebab stick and a part of a beer box top that can hardly withstand the weight of a butterfly landing on them.

The plaque holder is of course responsible for organizing the sponsorship next year.

RIP Dennys you are fondly remembered by your buddies.
