BANGKOK, 18 February 2016 -Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports are trying to expedite tourism reform to attract more tourists to Thailand.
Dr. Somkid has attended a meeting with Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul to discuss tourism plans which include sustainable developmebnt of tourist sites, a tourism network among ASEAN nations and domestic tourism.
Mrs. Kobkarn said this year’s plan is aimed at both raising individual spending per person and encouraging foreign tourists to stay in Thailand longer. Meanwhile, Deputy Phuket Governor Prajiad Aksornthammakul welcomed Malaysia’s Johor State Tourism and Investment Minister YB Datuk Tee Siew Kiong who seeks tourism cooperation with the province.
According to the Malaysian Minister, Johor State is planning to develop a tourism zone on Mersing Island as well as a coastal town in Kota Tinggi.
