TAK, 21 February 2016 – Thai and Myanmar military officers have met in Tak Province to discuss a cooperative plan to prevent and reduce haze.

Both sides have agreed to step up their campaign warning people along the border against burning forest trees and slash and burn farming to prevent air pollution and facilitate border tourism.

Haze density in the North has begun to lower after the recent ban on outdoor burning. Dust levels in the northern provinces of Tak, Lamphun, Chiang Mai and Lampang range between 97 and 101 microgram per cubic meter.

Meanwhile, ozone concentration in Mae Moh District in Lampang Province was recorded at 85 parts per billion while that in Muang District, Phayao Province, stands at 75 parts per billion.
