A Swiss tourist died after apparently suffering an asthma attack and choking to death on a noodles.
Police were called to the Sabai Guesthouse on Jomtien Soi 12 March 1 where they found the body of former Swiss policeman Ernst Albert Meier, 57. He had been dead about an hour.
His girlfriend, 32-year-old Chanchira Sookproong, said Meier had come back to Pattaya for a holiday about a month ago. They had stopped for lunch at the guesthouse where he ordered noodle soup with no vegetables. During the meal, he began choking and collapsed.
Restaurant staffers tried to clear his windpipe, but his false teeth also came out and they were unable to revive him. It was known Meier had asthma and it was assumed his choking provoked an attack.
