Pattaya turns Irish at St. Patrick’s Day parade March 17

Just as everyone is Chinese for the Lunar New Year, everybody is Irish for St. Patrick’s Day which will be celebrated again in Pattaya with the sixth-annual parade and shows.

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh and Father Ray Foundation Vice President Rev. Michael Picharn Jaiseri announced details for the March 17 festivities at a press conference at Central Festival Pattaya Beach March 1.

Stage performances will kick off the event at 3:30 p.m. outside the Alcazar Theater. There will be a performances by the Yotawatit Military Band and Irish groups, a beer-drinking contest and dances from the Alcazar cabaret performers.

At 4:30 the parade will move out onto Soi 4, head down Beach Road to South Road and return along Second Road to the theater by 6 p.m.

Following the end of the procession, a charity drawing will be held with 150,000 baht in prizes including electronics, bicycles, gold, cash and more. Proceeds will go to the Father Ray Foundation.
