The Royal Thai Marine Corps have launched a rebranded football club, the Marine Eureka FC.
Marine Corps commandant Vice Adm. Thanakarn Kaikruan, will serve as the first club president with Rear Adm. Noppadol Panyachom named vice president and Capt. Wutthikai Pandee the manager.
Montri Eonaon, vice president of sponsor Euraka (Thailand) Co., attended the March 4 press conference to announce the start of the club at Prince Chumphon Camp in Sattahip.
Thanakarn said the Marines have had a football club competing under the Sports Authority of Thailand and Football Association of Thailand system since 2001 under the name Marines FC.
For its 15th season in Division 2, the team has been reorganized under the Marine Eureka name.
The club has 30 players, half of whom are government officers and sailors. The other half are mostly youths in the Sattahip area.
There is a new two-year strategic plan for the club that calls for construction or improvement of its football pitch to meet FA Thailand standards and increased training for players in sportsmanship, discipline and harmony.
Club officials said they want to make Marines Eureka FC a stage for youths with football talent who want to become professional footballers.
