More than 100 Royal Thai Navy sailors set out on new careers, completing career-training courses to find new jobs after serving their time in the military.

Vice Adm. Chainarong Chaowiset, deputy chief of the Navy Career Development Division, handed out diplomas to 137 sailors at the Sanyabat Club March 10.

The Department of Skills Development at the Sattahip Naval Base, the Marine Department, Career Development Center of Rayong and the Thai Sailing Club jointly created a program to offer vocational training to sailors for their lives after military service.

Over 100 Royal Thai Navy sailors completed career-training courses to find new jobs after serving their time in the military.

Thirty-two sailors opted to remain in the service and completed nine courses, including Maritime Affairs, fleet engineers and others.

The other 105 completed seven vocational courses including motorbike repair, air-conditioning service, electronics, electricians, welding, industrial vehicle controls, car care, and more.

Chainarong said the Navy is determined to make sure all sailors have the opportunity to participate in vocational courses before being dispatched. They will then have skills and abilities to work in a proper job or even create their own businesses.
