A man riding in the back of an overloaded pickup truck died after he fell out of the vehicle and was run over by a Pattaya Transportation Cooperatives’ metered taxi.
Tipon Pakdee, 23, suffered a fatal head injury in the early morning March 7 accident on Soi Chaiyapornwitee near Mabprachan Reservoir.
Choteworachak Phopromsri, the 37-year-old driver of the Toyota Vigo out of which Tipon fell, said he was ferrying a group of 10 people from Pattaya Beach, with Tipon sitting on the side of the truck bed.

On the way, the truck hit a hole and Tipon lost his balance and fell out. He was immediately struck and crushed by the taxi driven by Toi Jusingh, 43.
Police took photographs and questioned witnesses before submitting their report. Tipon’s body was taken to Banglamung Hospital for his relatives to collect.
It was unknown at press time what charges, if any, were brought against either or both drivers for reckless driving.
