250 military, police officers sweep Koh Larn

About 250 police officers, soldiers, sailors and local administrators swept through nine places on Koh Larn, looking for illegal drugs and registering migrant workers and drivers of public-transport vehicles in the latest concerted effort at boosting safety for tourists.

Pol Maj Gen Amphon Buarubporn, commander of Chonburi police, joined the head of the Pattaya, Tourist and Immigration police stations to bring military personnel, Marine Department and Banglamung District officials through Tawaen, Thian, Samae, Nuan, Thonglang and Sangwan beaches March 11.

They searched for illegal drugs and took DNA samples from migrant workers, recording their personal information and registered them.

Authorities also moved forward with trying to regulate Pattaya’s motorbike taxis, taking personal information of Koh Larn drivers. They did the same with baht bus and minibus drivers.
