The Centara Grand Modus Resort Pattaya is a brand new resort located on the sands of Wong Amart Beach, which is most popular amongst holiday makers who prefer a cozy private beach away from the busy areas.

Having only opened for a couple weeks, the resort organised their first wine tasting event on Friday March 20 to introduce some of the tastiest wines.

Friends, guests and media members were warmly welcomed by Mr. Prayuth Nim-ngamsri, the FB manager for the inaugural event.

The new Twilight Restaurant & Bar on the 6th floor of the resort was the perfect venue for such an event. The sophisticated dining area offers stunning sea views with open terrace areas for those who prefer the fresh air instead of air-con.

Although being one of their first wine affairs, there were many in-house guests that took interest and joined the night together with friends and family as well as the media and walk-in customers. There was no particular food pairing for the wines, however, the team did set up mouthwatering canapés as each wine was introduced so that guests could help themselves to their favorite snacks.

First up was the Australian South Eastern Unoaked Chardonnay 2012 by the Inspired Company. This one offers peach, melon and zest citrus fruit flavors that typify premium chardonnay, an all-arounder that pairs very well with pork, rich fish (salmon, tuna etc), vegetarian and poultry.

Next up was a personal favorite, and might also be to others who like red wine. The Chilean Alicanto Merlot 2012 is said to have been fermented in stainless steel tanks. It has and intense ruby red color with violet highlights. On the nose it displays an aroma of well ripen red fruit, offering a rich in flavor with soft tannins.

The new Twilight Restaurant & Bar offers an outdoor terrace area with stunning views of Pattaya Bay.

Number three was a taste of another fine Chilean wine, the Trewa Cabernet Sauvignon 2014. This offered a lot of fruit aromas like blackberries, plum and black cherryThe maturity of its tannins and balanced structure gives the wine an exquisite final persistence. It pairs remarkably well with all sorts of beef, lamb, spicy dishes and poultry.

The night carried on with 2 additional wines including the Trewa, Sauvigon Blanc 2014 from Chile and the Australian Shiraz-Cabernet 2013 by the Inspired Company which were tasty altogether. It was a successful event and the Centara Grand Modus Resort Pattaya is looking to host more similar events in the near future.
