SAMUT PRAKARN – Deputy Samut Prakarn provincial governor Thanu Boonlert said those who work outdoors in the heat of the sun for a long time might have high risks of getting heat strokes.

He advised that those people take special care of themselves especially during summer when temperature is usually high. Those with long-term health problems, in particular, could possibly get a heat stroke, the most serious form of heat-related illnesses. Heat strokes could possibly be fatal.

People should avoid being at hot spots for an extended period of time. One is advised to keep himself or herself hydrated or drink at least six glasses of water every day. Signs of a heat stroke include a fever, thirstiness, dizziness, headaches, nausea and vomiting.

If one experiences a heat stroke, he or she needs to be taken to a cooler place. His/her face and body should be wiped with a wet towel, followed by a gentle massage. Call Hotline 1669 if the condition does not improve.
