Four people, including the driver of a pickup truck, were killed when the truck in which they were travelling was rammed by a train at an unbarricaded railway crossing Petchaburi’s Cha-am district Friday morning.
The identities of the four victims were not known and police are still investigating the incident which occurred in Ban Huaysai Nua.
Involved in the fatal accident was the Bangkok-Hua Hin-Suanson Pradipat train which stopped at the scene and all passengers were transferred to cars to their destination.
Responding to the accident, several netizens pointed out that the railway crossing there was not the official one and, therefore, there is no barricade and is not manned. Some said that if the driver had been more cautious and taken a look first whether there was a training coming or not, the accident could have been avoided even though there was no barricade at the crossing.
