NARATHIWAT– The ongoing wildfire is ravaging a peat swamp forest in the southern province of Narathiwat.
According to the latest report, firefighters are still unable to bring the situation under control as the fire has spread into the province’s peat swamp forest. Firefighters said the ignition took place at two separate villages in Yi-ngo district.
Initial inspection said more than 1,550 rai of land has been damaged since the start of the blaze on May 3rd.
Meanwhile, public health authorities in Su-ngai Kolok district have been handing out masks to locals while urging them to avoid inhaling smoke for their own safety.
