BANGKOK, 26 August 2011 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has handed down policies of the government to directors-general and executives of each ministry with a focus on national reconciliation creation, narcotic drug suppression and solutions to high living costs of people.
Speaking at a meeting of heads of government units and senior civil servants, Ms Yingluck elaborated that the government has prepared the operational framework with an emphasis on economic enhancement to stimulate the national economy sustainably.
The prime minister elaborated further that mega projects will be made under long-term development. They include solutions to floods and investment on the transportation system, which will lead to a better flow of the Thai economy.
Ms Yingluck then talked about urgent policies of the government, including national unity and reconciliation by rehabilitating people affected from past political violence. She pledged that the government will take care of both citizens and government officials equally.
The prime minister said the government is always ready to support the operation of the Independent Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Thailand to pave ways for peace in the nation. She added that solutions to narcotic drug spread and high living costs will be tackled with.
Ms Yingluck also strongly encouraged all units to work and respond to people’s needs with honesty, transparency. She asked them to stick to the principle of ‘correcting problems and not seeking revenge’. She said all operations under her government must be able to be re-checked.
The prime minister noted that work and responsibilities of some units that are related must be integrated systematically for greater efficiency. She told the officials to feel free to seek supports from the government when they encounter any problems in order to solve and find exits together.
