BANGKOK, 30 August 2011 – The Cabinet has resolved to increase the rate of compensation for agriculturalists who are affected by floods, especially rice farmers who will receive 2,222 THB per rai, as opposed to 606 THB.
Government Spokesperson Thitima Chaisaeng stated that the Cabinet had acknowledged progress in the effort to help agriculturalists, who were devastated by floods. She said additional assistance was also approved for three groups of flood victims involved in agriculture, fishery and livestock. The compensation for rice farmers, which was previously set at 606 THB per rai, was increased to 2,222 THB.
According to the Government Spokesperson, any individuals eligible for the Government’s assistance must submit their requests before the deadline specified by the provincial administration.
