Immigration officers from around the Eastern Seaboard learned to operate new passport-scanning machines and learned to identify fake travel documents at a training session in Jomtien Beach.
Immigration Police Deputy Commissioner Maj. Gen. Surapol Thonkises welcomed officers from Chonburi, Rayong, Trat and Srakaew to the Chonburi Immigration Office Oct. 4. There instructors from Australia’s Foster & Freeman taught officers to use the VSC 6000 “desktop video spectral comparator.”

The system uses a high-resolution camera that uses illumination from ultraviolet to infra-red to examine coded information embedded in passports and other government documents.
Justice Ministry instructors also lectured on passport stitching, ink and other features to help officers identify fraudulent documents.
