BANGKOK, 19 October 2011 – Labor-related bodies are mobilizing efforts to relieve hardships of flood-hit employees.
Permanent Secretary for Labor Somkiat Chayasriwong disclosed that the Ministry was now seeking a budget of five to six billion THB which will be distributed to affected operators who will in turn dispense flood-hit employees 3,000 THB a month. The budget is expected to tide them over for three months.
Meanwhile, the Social Security Office is asking hospitals taking part in the social security program to provide medical assistance to all social security members for free.
The Thai labor network is also launching a donation campaign at its 10 labor union centers.
