TOURISM AUTHORITY OF THAILAND LINKS UP WITH ETIHAD AIRWAYS TO HOST 8-DAY MEGA FAMILIARISATION TRIP FOR MIDDLE EAST TRAVEL PROFESSIONALS TO PROMOTE THAILAND TO THE MIDDLE EAST

Dubai, October 17, 2011— The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is to conduct a Familiarisation Trip for 42 Middle East travel professionals from Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Partnering with Etihad Airways, the initiative will be the largest Familiarisation Trip by TAT specifically designed for Middle East travel agents and travel wholesalers.

Speaking about the Familiarisation Trip, Mr Pramoth Supyen, Director of TAT Dubai Office said: “TAT is delighted to be hosting this travel trade event. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to promote Thailand as a tourist destination to the Middle East travel trade. Thailand, with its outstanding beauty, amazing attractions, superb accommodation, exotic cuisine and cultural heritage has much to offer to the Middle Eastern tourist.”

The 42 Middle East travel professionals will participate in an 8-day programme from October 16-23, 2011. The programme, arranged by TAT, will include a special Middle East Trade Meeting (MTM) in which the Mega Fam Trip participants will meet and discuss business with more than 150 companies of the Thai travel and tourism industry from across the country including hotels and resorts, tour operators, theme parks, and a hospital. During their trip, the Middle East travel professionals will also have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular stage show at Siam Niramit on October 17, 2011, visit a number of tourist attractions in the Thai capital of Bangkok as well as explore the popular and new potential tourist destinations of Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Amphawa district of Samut Songkhram.
