Khomsan Ekachai began work as Chonburi’s new governor with a meeting of bureaucrats to lay out his vision of how the province should be run.
Ekachai laid out three principles: Know Chonburi’s citizens, know how to create relationships with co-workers and know your responsibilities and how to fulfill them. Working for the betterment of Chonburi’s citizens was his order, not just a suggestion, he said.

The governor’s position – which is appointed, not elected – comes at the same time as the country’s regular bureaucratic shake-up. The meeting also saw the announcement of new positions for 2012.
Somsri Jinawong of Samut Songkhram takes over as the head of the province’s Buddhism Office. Amnart Prachapan, an inspector from the Department of Corrections, was named interim chief of Chonburi Central Prison. Woranit Lerdkhonsaan, Srakaew’s disaster chief, will assume those duties in Chonburi. Kitti Thaweezup takes over the Department of Development and Rehabilitation of Children. Ratanavalee Wonghan, the former DRC head, now will lead the 8th Unit Social Department. And Weerapol Dechbun of Srisaket was named the 3rd District education consultant.
Following the personnel directives and changes, the bureaucrats’ meeting proceeded with routine business.
Representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security presented white ribbons to Chonburi’s governor and deputy governors.
Kamol Sakprasit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives informed provincial workers that the ministry has set up a working group to evaluate and determine the selection of raw materials for restaurants, naming Krua-Wang-Duan Haa as the safe venue to distribute agricultural and products.
