Big choppers will roll through the streets of Pattaya as Burapha Bike Week revs its engines again Feb. 10-11 at the National Indoor Sports Stadium in Jomtien Beach.

As has become custom, the Soi Chaiyapruek 2 biker convention will feature a “drive for peace” with motorcyclists rolling through Pattaya for charity. This year, Pattaya City Hall has allocated 400,000 baht to help organize the event.

Big bikes will once again be rumbling through town next month during the annual Burapha Bike Week. Big bikes will once again be rumbling through town next month during the annual Burapha Bike Week.

Peace Driving Club President Prasarn Nikaji said Drive for Peace, in its 15th year, is one of the top events in the world biker community and anchors a Thai celebration that also includes thousands of glider and remote-controlled aircraft enthusiasts, vintage car buffs and audiophiles as well as bike aficionados.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh said at a Jan. 4 press conference that the city has stepped in with sponsorship of the two-day “week” to keep the Drive for Peace mobile and problem-free. Tens of thousands of people come to the city for the event, he said, and the government wants to ensure traffic and other logistics all fall into place.
