PSC golf from The Fairways Golf Society

Monday, January 9,The Emerald – Stableford

We had a rather modest turn out today so only the one division.  There were several players who did really well on the front nine only to fall away on the home stretch.  Whether it was the hot, clammy conditions or too much booze the night before I don’t know, however, Ken Meek managed to keep it going and scored 35 points to take first prize from John & Pier.

There were no near pins today.

1st Ken Meek (23) 35pts

2nd John Maycox (11) 33pts

3rd Pier Cere (12) 32pts

Wednesday, January 11,Wangjuntr – Stableford

Today we played the Valley course and what a test of golf it is (as reflected in the scores returned.)  Everybody agreed that it was well worth the longer journey than usual to play this fantastic golf course.  We all suggested that if we knew our way around the course a little better we might have scored more.  Who knows!

Ken Meek. Ken Meek.

Unusually this course has five par threes and the near pins were claimed by Ken Meek, Karl Flood (2) & Jason Cole (2).  Jason took first spot in the stableford from Ken while Toby O’Niel took revenge on Tony Duthie for beating him on a back nine count back the previous week by returning the favour.

1st Jason Cole (6) 31pts

2nd Ken Meek (23) 30pts

3rd Toby O’Niel (24) 27pts

4th Tony Duthie (21) 27pts

Friday, January 13,Treasure Hills – Stableford

The first time we have played this course for quite a while and I must say it was most enjoyable as it was in good condition and the weather was ideal for playing golf – overcast with a nice gentle breeze.

First place was won on a count back by Roy Dayton17-16 from the man in form Ken Meek, who is on a fine run and has been in the frame every day this week.  Fred Land was only one point behind in third spot.

Near pins went to Roy Dayton (2), Ken Meek & Ben.

1st Roy Dayton (24) 35pts

2nd Ken Meek (23) 35pts

3rd Fred Land (13) 34pts
