More than two dozen bands rocked Beach Road as they vied to win the Pattaya Music Challenge.
Cut Two took home top honors in the Feb. 17-19 contest sponsored by Sound House Pattaya and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Refew from Photisamphan School placed second and The Wing took third. Winners received 10,000, 9,000 and 8,000 baht, respectively.
More than 150 musicians in 26 bands joined the contest, which started with a qualifying round and finished up with the very best making the finals on the last day.
The crowd that gathered at Central Road junction on Pattaya Beach Road all appeared to enjoy the music and added to a festive atmosphere.
The contest, aimed at young people, is intended to encourage participation in music and keep youths away from drugs.
