After a highly successful Rooftop Film Festival – the first in the South East Asia region – held in March 2012 at the Sunset Lounge of dusitD2 baraquda hotel in Pattaya, this year will see the event take on a more Gallic flavor as the French Embassy in Thailand, together with World Film Festival of Bangkok and dusitD2 baraquda pattaya will host the “Pattaya French Film Festival 2013.”

A wide range of French cinematic delights are to be shown at the chic and casual poolside of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya hotel every Friday and Saturday evening from 8 p.m. throughout February.  This inaugural festival aims to promote French films to French speaking residents and tourists as well as to attract those who are interested in the French language and culture.  The festival is poised to become a focal point for French film aficionados to gather and enjoy high quality films with other Francophiles.  The festival will be Thailand’s first poolside al fresco style film experience.

Pattaya is one of the most dynamic and creative cities in Thailand and this film festival aims to offer a major cultural experience to interested visitors, while adding an important event to Pattaya’s tourism attractions.

Kriengsak Silakong, Director of the World Film Festival of Bangkok stated: “The cinematographic language is a universal language.  Watching films from around the world helps us to understand other people and cultures and also discover the similar traits and situations that we all share and experience.  With this project we show that the cultural sector and the private sector together can achieve something that would be much harder to achieve for any of the two alone.

“It is a brave initiative of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya to bring foreign films to Pattaya, especially French films,” Silanong continued.  “I attended their Rooftop Film Festival last year and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I can assure everyone that the Pattaya French Film Festival is going to be another amazing film experience and one of the best ever organised in Thailand.”

Chonlatee Nakamadee, hotel manager of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya added: “This film festival reflects the hotel’s aim to become a centre of fashion, film, art, and music in a casual environment.  Last year we hosted a highly successful Rooftop Film Festival which became not only Thailand’s first but also South East Asia’s first.”
