Who would have thought you can play a few records, serve some drinks and raise a heap of money for local charities? Well last November Earl Brown and Eva Johnson did just that by creating the first ever Northern Soul Night in Pattaya.
Using cool venues and with the support of generous sponsors they have in the last 10 months contributed to the Melissa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation, Hand to Hand to foundation and the Mercy Centre raising over 200,000 baht

On Saturday the 25th of August they staged their 4th such event, a night where likeminded people come together, dance, and party. It’s as simple as that. The organisers do not approach this as a charity event and keep the focus held on the music and the vibe of the evening.
The venue was the Boomerang Bar on Soi Arunothai which was also used for the previous Northern Soul Night and featured numerous DJ’s whose passion is Northern Soul.
The venue had a pulse, and the setting was perfect, replete with a beautiful Vespa beside the dance floor.
Entry was only 400 baht for which the clubbers were given 2 hours of free-flow beer/wine or soft drinks as well as the chance to shake their stuff on the dance floor.
The sponsors for the evening were the ever-supportive Joe Cox from Defense International Security Services, Tom Coghlan MD of CSP Construction, The Palm Wongamat Beach, K2M Project Solutions but the most popular sponsor of the evening was surely Selina from Apple Honey Co. Ltd. who kindly donated 5 cases of cider and a very special punch!
A great night was had by all and as the free drink came to an end, the tunes kept people glued to the dance floor (and the bar) with the party continuing long into the night.
The beneficiary Margaret Grainger from the Hand to Hand Foundation was also in attendance, but she was there to give her support and was spotted quite a few times on the dance floor.
The fifth Northern Soul Night is scheduled once again at the Boomerang Bar on Saturday the 24th of November.
