Pattaya Guitar Festival 2014 to debut in Bangkok

Due to a last minute change of venue, this year’s annual Pattaya Classical Guitar Festival will be held at the Thailand Guitar Society (TGS) Recital Hall, soi 60 Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok on Saturday and Sunday, October 25 & 26.  Organizers are however already planning to return the festival to Pattaya in 2015 at a venue yet to be announced.

The festival boasts an impressive list of artists, luthiers and students from Japan, S. Korea, Britain, Indonesia, Switzerland, Italy, America, Philippines and Thailand.

The event will kick-off on 25 October with the junior guitar competitions at 09:30; followed by a guitar exhibition at 13:00; Masterclass with Masao Tanibe at 15.00; Concert “TGS staff present themselves” at 17.00 and a guitar recital featuring the expert strumming of Pongpat Pongpradit and Paul Cesarczyk (USA) at 19.00.

On 26 October the program continues at 09.30 with the Senior Competition; Thailand Guitar Society student concert at 14:00 – Masterclass with Paul Cesarczyk at 15.00, at 17.00 a concert with the competition winner 2013, Kawin Watanasuchat, and the final concert – flamenco with Tana Suebsiri and classics with Masao Tanibe (Japan) at 19.00.

First prize in the adult competition is a concert guitar valued at US$4,500 made by the world renowned Indonesian luthier Hanief Palopo.
