Speedboat operators are complaining that a litter-strewn Pattaya Beach is depressing tourist numbers.
Indeed, an inspection of the beachfront Sept. 29 found a large amount of plastic bags, snack packages and other garbage mixed in with dead jellyfish.
Speedboat operators complained that the near-daily sight of a garbage-covered beach is hurting their business, as less people come to the shore.
They said the garbage may be overflow from the sewers or just careless beachgoers, although in reality it floats in with the tides. Whatever the case, they said, the city should be on top of the mess and cleaning it up promptly.
