Mountains of garbage are piling on a side street close enough to city hall that sanitation workers should be able to catch of whiff of their neglect.
The huge piles of trash, lining both sides of Soi 2/2 in North Pattaya are propped up by lumber, concrete and other construction materials. Contractors illegally dumping their waste are being blamed by nearby residents as the main perpetrators of the trash pile-up.
Residents say the soi is small, lightly trafficked and badly lit at night – all factors contributing to the dumping. But as the street is nearly across from city hall, neighbors can’t understand how the city can neglect the mess.
