Rotting durian punctuates garbage mess in South Pattaya

The smell of garbage and rotting durian is making quite the stink at the Pattaya South Road intersection near Thamsamakkee Temple.

Street vendors, retailers and restaurants have dumped dried and wet garbage all around, allowing stray dogs to rummage. The odor has only been made fouler from the remains of durian, which smell foul even when ripe.

There are fines on the books for up to 2,000 for littering, but neither Pattaya City Hall nor police are enforcing them, leading to a smelly, messy sight.
