10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting

BANGKOK, 6 July 2012  – Finance Minister Kittirat Na Ranong has revealed that the Finance Ministry will be hosting the 10th Asia-Europe Finance Ministers’ Meeting or ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting.

Mr. Kittirat stated that the Finance Ministry is holding the 10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting this month. The meeting will be participated by Finance Ministers and Deputies of 46 countries (27 from Europe, 16 from Asia, 3 from the Temporary Third Category), 2 organizational leaders consisting of the European Commission and the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as Senior Executives of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

It is hoped that the meeting will urge Asia and Europe to cooperate and exchange ideas and opinions on economy and finance between the two, as well as stabilizing Asia-European economic and financial status.

Mr. Kittirat also said that apart from the benefits of economy-related information exchange, Thailand will also benefit from the European countries’ experiences and measures applied by them to cushion the impact of the crisis. In addition, Thailand will have an opportunity to show the world its potentials and its role as a leader in the global economic and financial arena.

The 10th ASEM Finance Ministers’ Meeting will be held at Siam Kempinski Hotel, Bangkok on October 14 2012
