BANGKOK, 17 May 2011 – Stationery market this year is expected to grow by over 10-12% from last year with a total value of 33 billion baht thanks to a major boost from the opening of a new academic year, according to Kasikorn Research Centre (KResearch)
The period before the new semester, from late April to May, is the golden opportunity for business entrepreneurs to launch campaigns to stimulate sales as parents and students are looking for new stationery.
KResearch viewed that the stationery market is benefiting from a government policy to promote equal access to education for people while entrepreneurs have adjusted their business to the situation by improving product quality and launching marketing strategies continuously with the help of expanding marketing channels.
Expansion will be seen majorly in the middle and lower segments of the stationery market which are involved with parents, students and office members who are buying more stationery for daily use.
The domestic stationery market however must face higher risk factors ranging from the rising cost of raw materials to competitions from both domestic and imported goods, especially from China and India, which will spice up the competition in the middle and lower segments of the market.
