BANGKOK, 20 Nov 2013, The Commerce Ministry has revealed that 4 bidders have joined the 6th pledged rice auction.
A total of 452,000 tons of rice were on auction this round, 300,000 tons of which were 100% second class Jasmine rice and A1-Lert broken milled rice; the rest was 5% white rice. According to the ministry, this batch of rice may be exported as well as being sold domestically.
The atmosphere at the auction was reportedly quiet, with only 4 bidders bidding for the rice; the four companies were Royal Richie Rice, Asia Golden Rice,Capital Cereals, and CP Rice.
The 5% white rice was the most popular item, receiving offers from 3 bidders.
The rice clearance committee would determine the winner and further negotiate with the company for appropriate prices, if necessary, before concluding the deal later on.
