BANGKOK, 16 August 2013 Four major economic organizations have accepted the government’s invitation to take part in the upcoming political reform forum. The first round of the discussion is expected on August 25th.
Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep Thepkanjana and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Varathep Ratanakorn have met with leaders of the 4 economy-related organizations to invite them to the planned forum aimed at seeking reconciliation and political reforms of the country.
The four organizations, namely the Federation of Thai Industries, the Tourism Council of Thailand, the Thai Bankers’ Association, and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, have expressed their willingness to join the discussion. They said they would be happy to give suggestions and ideas to the meeting, but denying to be made committee members to the forum. However, they said the forum will be a good stage for the country to find a peaceful solution to the current political conflict.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Pongthep said the government has already invited many important and experienced figures to this forum, adding that if everything goes according to plan, the first round of the forum should start on August 25th, at the Government House. He expected over 50 recognized people to participate in the forum.
