BANGKOK, 13 September 2013 33 companies have purchased a total of 49 sets of bidding documents for rights to broadcast on the 24 digital TV channels.
Throughout the 3 days of the NBTC’s selling of the envelopes, 33 companies purchased 8 bidding rights to children and family channels, 12 bidding rights to news and information channels, 17 bidding rights to standard-definition variety channels and 12 bidding rights to high-definition variety channels.
Trairat Wiriyasirikun, deputy secretary-general to the NBTC, said the auctioning of the channels can now be held because so far the count of bidding rights has outnumbered the count of channels to be auctioned.
The qualifications of each company will now be scrutinized in detail. The auctioning of the digital TV channels is expected to take place between late November and early January.
