BANGKOK, 7 January 2014 – The Ministry of Agriculture has come up with a five-point strategy aimed at efficiently solving problems of the rubber industry.
After a video conference with 69 provinces nationwide on Wednesday, Deputy minister Amnuay Patisey said that authorities in those provinces had been briefed on procedures to shore up rubber prices through the provincial-level mechanism.
The five-point policies, which will soon be implemented by local officials are : Firstly, to closely monitor problems in each area which can quickly be solved at the provincial level.
Secondly, each province should come up with a production and distribution plan for each fiscal year. Thirdly, create an information network accessible to local rubber growers in order to update them on the latest local as well as overseas market situation.
Fourthly, make known of the bill being drafted in relation to the setting up of the central rubber organization of Thailand tasked with managing the whole industry. The fifth and final strategy is to have all related agencies in the province cooperate and create understanding among rubber growers should they detect any sign of protest or movement on the issue in the area.
