BANGKOK, 5 October 2013 – The government indicated that almost 90% of eligible rubber farmers have registered for the assistance money being provided by the state, and that it will extend the registration period only to the middle of October.
Prime Minister’s Office Minister Warathep Rattanakon revealed that about 1,050,000 households have registered for the assistance money, and this figure is 89% of the entire target group in 70 provinces, which include 1,170,000 households.
Mr. Warathep indicates the applications for the assistance pay-out will be sent to the committees overseeing rubber tapping areas in the sub-district level to ensure correctness. The data will then be sent to the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, which will transfer money into the accounts of the farmers.
Each rubber tapping family is eligible for compensation amounting to 2,520 baht per rai of rubber plantation being actively tapped, up to a maximum of 25 rai.
