BANGKOK, 23 Dec 2013, The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has indicated that the ongoing political gatherings of People’s Democracy Reform Committee (PDRC) may scare off foreign visitors and affect the nation’s tourism in the first quarter of 2014.

According to President of the ATTA Sitdiwat Shewarattanporn, although he personally respects the rights of the people to express their political ideas by means of demonstration, they have undeniably diminish the nation’s good image. He proceeded to make an assumption that the number of foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2014 is likely to drop.

During the first quarter each year, Thailand is usually packed with foreign visitors, especially those from China, who come over to enjoy their New Year and Chinese New Year celebrations.

Mr. Sitdiwat urged all sides to talk rationally, find a common ground, and take a step back for the sake of the nation.
