BOI: Investment increases in Q1 of 2012

BANGKOK, 15 April 2012  – Investment in the first quarter of this year saw an increase from the same period of 2011, according to the Board of Investment (BOI) 

BOI Secretary General Atchaka Sibunruang revealed that in Q1 of 2012, 470 investment projects have been submitted for BOI promotional privileges with a combined value of over 231 billion baht.

The businesses in which entrepreneurs sought to expand investment most involve chemicals, paper, and plastics, followed by public utilities and service.

Meanwhile, the number of foreign investment applications in Q1 has considerably increased when compared to that of last year, totaling 312 projects worth over THB134 bil.

The largest number of foreign investors is from Japan, followed by Malaysia, the United States, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong.
