BANGKOK, 5 April 2013 Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt has guaranteed that the government’s 2-trillion-baht infrastructure development projects will be transparent and beneficial to all sides.
The Minister of Transport reiterated that the projects would be carried out according to the plans. Each project is subjected to the feasibility and suitability studies by the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board prior to its implementation to ensure transparency. He added that an internal unit would be established to oversee the cost appraisal.
Mr. Chadchart is optimistic that the projects, particularly the high-speed trains, will have positive effect on Thailand’s overall economy. The high-speed train service is expected to be in operation in 7 years’ time.
