BANGKOK, 21 May 2013 – The Cabinet has approved a new tax measure to encourage Thai exporters to participate in a product exhibition overseas as part of the government’s policy to promote Thai exports.

According to Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong, the Cabinet has given the green light to the new measure which will help Thai exporters reduce the cost of promoting their products overseas through tax deduction.

Exporters who participate in a product exhibition abroad would have their expenses, which may include booth rental fee, insurance fee and freight charges, deducted by twice as much as the actual amounts. To claim the tax deduction, a company must have taken part in such an event that takes place between January 1 this year and December 31 next year and must be able to present proof of their participation.

Meanwhile, the Revenue Department said the move is to help Thai exporters find new markets abroad for their products and it only affects the government’s income slightly.
