BANGKOK, 29 February 2012 – The Cabinet has set a target to disburse more than 90% of its 2012 budget, mainly for investment purposes.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said on Tuesday that the weekly Cabinet meeting has resolved to approve the proposed speeding up of the budget disbursement for the 2012 fiscal year.
He said that, under this plan, the government is aiming to disburse no less than 72% of the investment budget alone.
Mr. Kittiratt stated that the ministry has decided to disburse the budget on a quarterly basis.
For the overall budget of the current fiscal year, which started in October 2011 and will end in September 2012, the government plans to disburse no less than 93% of the entire expenditure budget, which was set at THB2.38 trillion.
Regarding the revenue collection, the DPM is adamant that the government will hit its target of THB1.98 trillion.
