BANGKOK, 21 September 2013 The Transport Minister said the government’s 2-trillion-baht infrastructure project will help reduce the country’s logistics cost by up to 260 billion baht per year.
During the “PM Yingluck Meets the People” program on NBT, Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt disclosed that the 2-trillion-baht infrastructure plan is a 7-year operation that includes 53 projects namely the double track railway, the high speed train project, and many more. Furthermore, he said the 2 trillion baht budget will also be spent on building 15 product distribution centers, 41 customs checkpoints, 4-lane motorway, and 4 more sea ports.
When completed, he said Thailand would be able to save up to 260 billion baht per year in logistics, adding that all the infrastructure projects would boost the country’s tourism industry as well as distribute wealth and prosperity to provinces across Thailand. Lastly, the minister has reaffirmed that the investment is worthwhile as it will bring growth and development to this nation as a whole.
