BANGKOK, 11 October 2013 Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt has revealed a train project linking Lao PDR, China and Thailand.
Talking about the progress of the project after the 3rd technical meeting of officials involved, Mr. Chadchart said that the meeting proposed Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province in China, as the starting point of the project which will run down to Laos and Thailand. He added that Thailand had sent 2 batches of engineers to China to study the system of high speed railways, specifically on technicalities.
He also mentioned about the barter of Thailand’s agricultural products with China’s locomotive system, saying that the deal is still under negotiation, and no specific details have been reached as of now.
He said the barter requires several steps and can only be proceeded at the governmental level.
