CHAINAT, 27 May 2014 – The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) branch in Chainat Province has received 1.05 billion baht, which accounts for 40% of the 2.48 billion baht budget that is needed to reimburse farmers in the rice pledging scheme.
Chainat Provincial Governor Kamdhorn Thawornsatit revealed that the 1.05 billion baht will be paid to around 6,150 farmers and the process is expected to be complete within four days. Nevertheless, the remaining 9,600 farmers have to wait for the second lot of payment of around 1.43 billion baht that would be deposited by June 10, 2014.
Meanwhile, the farmers are advised to be aware of safety. If they are not in a hurry to use such large amounts of cash, then they should deposit it with the BAAC. In case they keep the money at home, there is a risk that it might be stolen. Should anything happen, they are advised to call 191 in case of an emergency.
