Chinese investors eye investment opportunities in Mae Hong Son

MAE HONG SON, 28 June 2014  – The Mae Hong Son governor, Mr. Surapol Panas-ampol, today welcomed Yang Fang Su, the president of ASEAN-China Economic Promotion and Trade Cooperation Association and his party who were on a visit to study trade opportunities in northern Thailand. 

Mr. Yang’s delegation comprised 12 Chinese entrepreneurs including those specializing in tunnel construction, LED lighting system, solar cells and real estate business.

Mr. Surapol told the visitors that Mae Hong Son is one of Thailand’s most popular destinations, earning about 2 billion baht in tourism revenue each year. As a border province, Mae Hong Son earns around 400 million baht from cross-border trade annually. The province is developing its Baan Huay Ton Noon Temporary Checkpoint in Khun Yuam District as a permanent checkpoint.
