Commerce Minister assigns new responsibilities to his deputies

BANGKOK, 16 July 2013  Deputy Minister of Commerce Yanyong Phuangrach has been tasked with overseeing rice trade while another Deputy Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikua will continue his role in promoting business development and the protection of IP rights. 

Following the Cabinet reshuffle, newly-appointed Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan has assigned responsibilities to his two deputies according to their expertise. Mr. Nattawut will oversee the work of the Department of Intellectual Property, the Department of Business Development, the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand and the SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand.

Since Mr. Yanyong specializes in rice trade, he has been designated to take care of all related matters while the Department of Internal Trade, the Public Warehouse Organization and the Office of the Agricultural Futures Trading Commission will also come under his supervision.

Meanwhile, Mr. Niwatthamrong himself will take charge of the management of the Department of International Trade Promotion, the Department of Foreign Trade, the Department of Trade Negotiations and the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Commerce.
